Altia to begin exporting Koskenkorva Vodka to Kazakhstan

Altia will also take part in the Astana Expo 2017 world expo event to be held in Kazakhstan

Altia will begin exporting Koskenkorva Vodka to Kazakhstan. Altia has signed a distribution contract with the import company Orange Trading, and the deliveries of Koskenkorva Vodka are set to begin in August–September of this year.

“This marks the opening of a significant market for us in Central Asia. Our Russian exports have been on the rise for a while now, and the contract for distribution to Kazakhstan is a natural continuation. Orange Trading is a strong partner that can develop the Koskenkorva Vodka brand over the long term,” says Janne Halttunen, Senior Vice-President in charge of exports at Altia.

Koskenkorva Vodka is currently exported to nearly 30 countries.

Altia to take part in the Astana Expo 2017 world expo event

Along with around 70 other Finnish companies, Altia will participate in the Astana Expo 2017 world expo event to be held in the capital of Kazakhstan between 10 June and 10 September 2017. Finland is the only Nordic country to take part in the world expo event.

The theme of Astana Expo is Future Energy, and the main topics of the Finland pavilion include renewable and sustainable energy solutions, among others.

Altia’s Koskenkorva distillery is a forerunner in the bio and circular economy, making use of one-hundred per cent of the Finnish barley it uses as a raw ingredient. The barley husk that would otherwise not be used in the plant’s production is incinerated in the plant’s own bioenergy power plant, which supplies steam to the Koskenkorva plant. With the establishment of the bioenergy power plant, the Koskenkorva plant has managed to nearly halve its carbon dioxide emissions.

At the Finland pavilion, Altia will set up a cocktail bar that will also serve Finnish food.

“Astana Expo is a good opportunity for us to highlight Finnish beverage manufacturing expertise. Pure raw materials and a high-level distillation process, as well as the brand’s long history and genuine story, are the competitive factors we can use to distinguish ourselves in the Eastern European and Central Asian markets,” says Janne Halttunen.

Finland’s national day at the Astana Expo will be held on 20 June

Every participating country has its own national day at the event. Finland’s national day, 20 June, will focus on the culture and values of 100-year-old Finland. Finland’s national day at the world expo will feature Saara Aalto, Lenni Kalle Taipale & Sami Pitkänen Jazz House Band, Diandra, Teemu Roivainen and Santa Claus, among others.
